2015 Indoor Schedule

Here is our indoor schedule for 2015. Keep in mind we will still have qualifying marks for the Simplot Games and we are only allowed to take 4 athletes per event to state this year. Star Valley Indoor Track 2015 1/5- First Day of Practice (must have a current physical) 1/23-24 Weber State- Ogden 1/30-31 UHSTCA – Kearns/Olympic Oval 2/6-7 Boise HS Indoor- Boise 2/13 Distance Classic- Kearns/Olympic Oval 2/19-21- Simplot Games- Holt Arena- Pocatello 3/6-7- State Championships- Gillette Rec. Meeting 12/10 5th hour

There will be a meeting Wednesday, 12/10 in Coach Draney's room (119) during 5th hour. We will discuss required paperwork and the schedule.

State Track 2014

Congratulations on all the athletes that qualified for the State Meet this weekend in Casper. We will leave at noon on Wednesday and return late Saturday night with the completion of the meet. The following link with get you the information you need. Pay special attention to the parking situation due to construction at KW high school. Lets rally for one more meet and have a great end of the year finish!

Revised Schedule

Parents/Athletes: Here is the revised schedule for the rest of the season which is coming to an end soon. We will be taking a large contingent to Sugar-Salem HS this Wednesday (tomorrow) The bus leaves 11:45 and we will return around 9:30 p.m. For those not going to BYU we have practice Thursday AND Friday. We will take 20 qualifiers to BYU this weekend leaving after school on Thursday. We will be home around 9 p.m. Saturday night. Information for the meet HERE. We will take a group to Mountain View on 5/6. We will be looking to get some final marks in preparation for Regionals. Those not attending regionals will compete in their last meet at home on 5/14, starting at 3:30. Regionals and State will go on as scheduled.

Ririe/Davis

We will leave tomorrow at 12:45 for Ririe. Pack a lunch, change right after testing, and hustle out to the bus. we should be home around 9 p.m. the meet starts at 3:30 @ Ririe HS. We will be taking 14 athletes to compete with the best in Utah on Saturday. Information can be found HERE.

Dave Draney Invitational Tomorrow

Tomorrow we will host the annual Dave Draney Invitational @ SVHS Field Events will start at 1-2:30 p.m. Boys Triple Jump Girls Long Jump Boys Shot Put Girls Discus Girls HJ Boys HJ Boys PV Girls PV Field Events 2:30-4:30 Girls Triple Jump Boys Long Jump Girls Shot Put Boys Discus Running Events will start @ 1:30 4x800, 110H, 100H, 100, 1600, 4x100, Weight relay, 400 meter run, 300h, 800, 200, 3200, 4x400 WE will NOT be attending the Skyview Meet on Saturday.

Firth Today!

We will leave at 11:30 today to compete @ Firth in the annual Ice Breaker meet. The meet starts at 3:00 p.m.

Outdoor Track & Field Starts Today!

This week will be a transition period between Indoor and Outdoor. Please meet in my room 5th period today to find out deatails! FYI- the second annual Soda Mile will be tomorrow. See you there with 4 12 oz. cans/bottles of your favorite soda. Be ready to run fast!

State Indoor 2/7-8 Gillette

We will be taking around 30 athletes to compete at the state indoor meet in Gillette. This is an awesome way to culminate our indoor season by tangling with the very best (all classes) that the state of Wyoming has to offer. We will be leaving Thursday morning on the 6th to make the long drive north east to Gillette. Depending on finish time on Saturday we will drive home, or if it is too late we will stay in Riverton and drive home early Sunday morning. Information on the meet can be found HERE.

UHSTCA @ OLYMPIC OVAL

Bus will leave at 10 a.m. on Friday morning headed to Kearns for the UHSTCA meet this weekend. Pack a lunch AND dinner. The meet ends late Friday night and there will NOT be an opportunity to go out and eat. We will take care of meals the second day. UHSTCA Invitational Championships February 7th and 8th @ the Olympic Ice Oval 5662 South 4800 West Cougar Lane DIRECTIONS: Take I-215 south to 4700 south. Go west on 4700 south to Bangerter Highway. Turn left on Bangerter and go south to 5300 south. Take a right on 5300 and go west to 4800 west. Take a left on 4800 west (Cougar Lane). The Olympic Ice Oval is on the west side of the road. Weber State/Utah Distance Challenge

We will be attending several different meets this weekend. The distance athletes will be heading to the Olympic Oval for the Utah Distance Challenge. Information can be found HERE. After the meet they will travel to Ogden to join the rest of the team. The sprinters/field event athletes will travel to Ogden to compete. Schedule of events found HERE. Those who do not have events on Saturday will return home with Coach Henderson Friday night. The bus will be back at the HS around midnight. Those competing Saturday will stay overnight in Ogden then return home Saturday evening.

BYU Results/Performances of the Week

There were some outstanding performances this last weekend as the Star Valley Track & Field team participated at the BYU HS invitational in Provo. Sam Gertsch threw the weight 56 feet 10 inches to win the event and 50-4 in the shot. Sam was voted MVP male field event athlete for the entire meet. His weight throw DESTROYED the school record by nearly 12 feet. He will also receive the POW for the team. Other solid performances were provided by Hannah Demler, Cody Peck, Aspen Heward, and Faith Robbins. Aspen set a personal best in the 200 and 60h this weekend. She will receive the POW for this week. BYU Invitational

Our first meet of the year will be in Provo, Ut. @ the BYU Invitational on January 17-18th. All athletes who have their 9 practices in and are academically eligible to compete will attend. Complete information and a schedule of events can be found HERE. We will have a short parent meeting Tuesday, January 14th. We will be reviewing policies and procedures for this year. The bus will leave @ 11 a.m. on Friday and we will be home around 11 p.m. Saturday night.
