After nearly 1/3 of the team was wiped out due to illness, we will get back on the horse and get some marks and compete @ the Olympic Oval. For a little preview the distance crew will be headed down to race on the "big oval" this Friday. 3 more athletes qualified for the Simplot Games.
Utah Distance Challenge
Friday – January 28, 2011 at the Olympic Oval (5662 Cougar Lane, Kearns)
Schedule:
4:00 pm Track open for warm-up
5:00 pm Girls 1600m
5:30 pm Boys 1600m
6:00 pm Girls 400m
6:20 pm Boys 400m
6:40 pm Girls 800m
7:05 pm Boys 800m
7:30 pm Girls 3200m
7:45 pm Boys 3200m
Cost:
$5 per athlete—covers all events; no cost for coaches and spectators
Information:
1. We will run the fast heat first in each event. Races will not begin before the scheduled time, but may start late based on the number of participants.
2. ¼ inch pyramid spikes (or smaller). Spikes may only be worn on the track surface. Please remove your spikes when leaving the track.
3. Athletes need to be at the starting line for check-in 15 minutes prior to their event.
4. We have permission from the Olympic Oval to bring in our own food, but need to be sure to clean up after ourselves.
5. Runners from states other than Utah are invited to participate.

2011 Parent Meeting
We will be having out annual Star Valley Braves Track & Field Parent meeting Wednesday Night @ 6 p.m. in the auditorium. It is necessary that we go over goals and expectations for the year so we can reach our goals. School/Team procedure and policy need to be discussed so we are all on the same page. So that no one is blind-sided by anything, please attend.

Banner Hanging
All girls who competed for us last year are welcome to be at the boys Basketball game tomorrow night VS. Jackson. We will unveil the banner and recognize you all for your tremendous effort next year. Hopefully that will get you fired up for a new season! We will be starting practice on Monday 1/3 @ 3:50 after school. Have a great break!

Indoor 2011
Yes, it's right around the corner, we will be starting indoor workouts in about a month. Practice will officially kick off after Christmas break on 1/3. Here is our competition schedule for this season.

1/14-15 BYU - Provo, UT
1/21-22- Weber State - Ogden, UT
2/4-5- Olympic Oval- Kearns, UT
2/17-19 Simplot- Pocatello, ID*
3/4-5 State Indoor- Gillette, WY
*qualifying times must be met to compete with the team at this meet
If you have been competing in a fall sport, continue to rest. If you haven't you need to see your event coach for some drills/plans to get some fitness to start the season.

LADY BRAVES 2010 4A STATE CHAMPS!
The 2010 Track & Field Lady Braves make history by landing the school's first 4A State Championship banner and the first girl's track and field banner in school history. It came down to the last event but experience, tenacity, and guts pulled it out. Thanks to everyone who helped make it possible. Parents, coaches, athletes-seniors, we will miss you...thanks for your effort and sacrifice. To those of us who are still here it's time to get back to work...dealing with success is often more difficult than dealing with adversity.
